     Memorial piece to my friends who died of self infliction due to conditions we are living in that led them there. They were all mostly around 21 years old. All male friends as well, and I say this to bring up the fact that men are more likely to be succesful in a suicidal attempt and more likely to have issues with addictions. Part of the reason they end up there is because of the pressure put on men to be “successful” in life and to not share their feelings. This is intertwined with the fact that mental healthcare is hard to access in america for many people and particularly so if you are poor and working class. We need to address these intersectional subjects in order to curb the rising suicide and overdose rates. Those are some surface level symptoms of the disease that is capitalism and patriarchal masculinity
